About Singer-Songwriter Ronan Cavanagh

Ronan Cavanagh, Musician and Singer-songwriter, Dublin.jpg

Ronan Cavanagh is from Cork and lives in Dublin, Ireland. Music has and continues to be a life-long pursuit of something deep and satisfying.

"It started when I bought U2’s Boy album and then heard Big Country’s The Crossing in the early 80s. My father played Irish folk songs in the car, my mother played Mozart and Beethoven and my brother had Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous on vinyl. And then I discovered Mike Oldfield in the 90s. And it just expanded from there….. a mix of folk, classical, cinematic – all with a misty Atlantic spirit."

Lost in Chimes includes six songs recorded during 2020 with Producer Larry Hogan. It started with two songs in Larry's studio just before Covid-19 and became a collection of six working remotely after that.

Time Has Come is a follow on EP in 2021, again working with Producer Larry Hogan. The songs become bigger and more band like on this second collection.

Enormity because a more expansive EP of new songs and was produced with Larry Hogan in 2022. The music becomes more orchestrated and layered.

I am Here is the latest EP released in summer 2026. It is a collection of two parts; three songs and three cinematic pieces of instrumental music, the final being a medley of original Irish reels.

These pieces have more layering, dynamics, vocal harmonies and finishing. Larry Hogan was again musical partner and eventually – after far too much fiddling and tweaking – the EP was finished in summer tme.
